A red bulb and violet bulb of equal power emits `n_(R )` and `n_(v)` number of photons in a given time, then

A

`n_(R)=n_(V)`

B

`n_(R) gt n_(V)`

C

`n_(R) lt n_(V)`

D

`n_(R) ge n_(V)`

The correct Answer is:
B

Photons are the packets of energy (or energy particle) which are emitted by a source of radiation.
energy possessed by a photon is given by, `E=hv=(hc)/(lamda)`
If power of each photon is P, then energy given it t second is equal to Pt. let the number of photons be n, then
`n=(Pt)/(E)=(Pt)/((hc//lamda))=(Ptlamda)/(hc)`
for red light, `n_(R)=(Ptlamda_(R))/(hc)`
for violet lifht, `n_(V)=(Ptlamda_(V))/(hc)`
`therefore (n_(R))/(n_(V))=(lamda_(R))/(lamda_(V))`
As `lamda_(R) gt lamda_(V),` So, `n_(R) gt n_(V)`.
