Arrange the following carbonyl compounds in increasing order of their reactivity nucleophlic addtion reactino.

A

Butanone `lt` propanae `lt` propanal `lt` ethanal

B

Butanone `lt` propanal `lt` propanone `lt` ethanal

C

Butanone `lt` ethanal `lt` propanone `lt` propanal

D

Butanone `lt` ethanal `lt` propanal `lt` propanone

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
A

In ethernal `to` proplan `to` propanone `to` butanone, then electron density on the carbon atom of the carbonly group increases due to the increases of +I effect of the alkyl group. Thus, the attack by the nucleophile becomes slower and solwer. The reactivity increases in the reverse order.
butanone `lt` propane `lt` propanal `lt` ethanla.
