If a satellite of mass `m` is revolving in a circlar orbit of radus `r`, with speed `v` around the earthof mass `m`, the centripetal force is
provided by the gravitational pull, i.e,
`(mv^(2))/r=(GMm)/(r^(2))`
`mv^(2)r=GMm`
`(mvr)v=GMm=` constant
or `Lv=` constant
where `mvr=L` is the angular momenntum of the satellite. As the air friction causes the retarding torque, it will decrease the angular momentum `L` of the satellite. Because of this the velocity of the satellite `v` increase in order to keep `Lv=a` constant.
