The critical temperature of `SO_(2)` is 630 K and that of `CH_(4)` is 190 K . Which is adsorped easily on activated charcoal ? Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given the critical temperature of `SO_(2)` is 630 K and that of `CH_(4)` is 190 K.
`SO_(2)` gas is adsorbed easily on activated charcoal because of higher critical temperature. Higher the critical temperature of gas, extent of adsorption is high.
