Helmholtz electrical double layer :
The combination of the two layers of opposite charges around the colloidal particle called Helmholtz electrical double layer.
`to` In a colloidal sol the charges of opposite signs on the fixed and diffused parts of t double layer results in a difference in potential between these layers. The potential difference between the fixed layer and the diffused layer of opposite charge is call electro kinetic potential (or) zeta potential.
`to` The above concepts applicable in colloidal solution in which the solid particles carry one kind of charge while liquid medium carries opposite charge to that of solids.

There are certain substances which behave as normal, strong electrolytes at low concentration but at higher concentration they behave as colloidal solution due to the formation of aggregated particles. Such colloids are called associated colloids and the aggregated particles are called micelles. Soaps anddetergents are the examples of associated colloids. The formation of micelles takes place above certain concentration called critical micellization concentration (CMC) and a characteristic temperature called Kraft temperature (T_k) . What type of molecules form micelles
