`CH_(3) - Cl` reacts faster in `S_(N) 2` -reaction with `-OH` than `-(CH_(3))_(3)C - Cl`
Reason : The order of reactivity of alkyl halides in `S_(N) 2` - reactions is `1^(@)` -alkyl halide `gt 2^(@) -` alkyl halide `gt 3^(@)`- alkyl halide .
`to` Due o high steric hindrance in `3^(@)`-alkyl halide i.e., `(CH_(3))_(3) C- Cl` . It is less reactive towards `S_(N) 2` reaction , whereas in case of `CH_(3)- Cl (1^(@)`- alkyl-halide) less steric hindrance observed . So , it is high reactive towards `S_(N) ^(2)` - reactions .
