Obtain an expression for the wave veloc...

Obtain an expression for the wave velocity in terms of these parameters.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let 'v' ve the velocity of a wave, 'v' be frequency and `'lambda'` be the wavelength. If 'T' is the time period.
then v = `(1)/(T ) `
The distance travelled by the wave in the time `T = lambda `
Distance travelled in one second ` = (1)/(T )`
which is equal to wave velocity ` v = (lambda )/(T ) `
`:. v = v lambda `
