What is the phase difference between A.C emf and current in the following : Pure resistor, pure inductor and pure capacitor.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) In pure resistor A.C. e.m.f and current are in phase with each other.
(ii) In pure inductor, current lags behind the e.m.f. by an angle of `(pi)/(2)` (or) `90^(@)`.
(iii) In pure capacitor, current leads the e.m.f by an angle `(pi)/(2)` (or) `90^(@)`.
