The image of a real object in a convex mirror is 4cm from the mirror. If the mirror has a radius of curvature of 24cm, Find the position of object and magnification

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Mirror formula `: (1)/(v)+(1)/(u)=(1)/(f)`
Here, `v=+4 cm,f=+(R)/(2)=+(24)/(2)=+12cm,`
`:. u=(vf)/(v-f)=((4)(12))/(4-12)=-6cm`
The negative sign shows that the object is real and it is placed in front of the mirror.
The magnification, `m=-(u)/(v)=(-(+4))/(-6)=(2)/(3)`
Thus, the image is two-thirds as high as the object.
