For the situations shown in figure, determine the angle by which the mirror should be rotated, so that the light ray will retrace its path after refraction through the prism and reflection from the mirror?

A

`1^(@)ACW`

B

`1^(@)CW`

C

`2^(@)ACW`

D

`2^(@)CW`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
d.

For light to retrace the path, light ray falling on the mirror should be along the normal.
Deviation produced by prism,
`delta_(1)=(1.5-1)4=2^(@)CW`
So, mirror has to be rotated by `2^(@)` in CW direction.

A ray of light is incident on a convex mirror as shown in Fig. Redraw the above diagram after completing the path of the light ray after reflection from the mirror.

Consider the situation as shown in figure. The point O is the centre. The light ray forms an angle of 60^@ with the horizontal and each mirror makes an angle 60^@ with the normal. The value of refractive index of that spherical portion so that light ray retraces its path is
