The period of oscillation of a spring pe...

The period of oscillation of a spring pendulum is T. If the spring is cut into four equal parts, then find the time period corresponding to each part.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`T prop 1//sqrtK`
Now, `(1)/(k_(eff)) = (1)/(k_(1)) + (1)/(k_(2)) + (1)/(k_(3)) + (1)/(k_(4))`
or, `(1)/(k) = (4)/(k)`
[Here `k_(eff)] = k and k_(1) = k_(2) = k_(3) = k_(4) = k]`
`k = 4k`
Therefore , time period will be twice the original value.
