a. The melting point of `KBr` is higher than that of `AgBr` through the crystal radii of `Ag^(o+)` and `K^(o+)` ions are almost the same. Explain.
b. `SnCl_(2)` is solid but `SnCl_(4)` is liquid. Why ?

a. More is the ionic character, higher is the melting point. Applying Fajans' rule for ionic compounds, both compounds have same charge, same anion and size of cations are also same.
Electronic configuration of `K^(o+)` and `ag^(o+)` are
`K^(o+)(Z=19), 1s^(2) 2s^(2)2p^(6) 3s^(2)3p^(6)4s^(0)` or `[Ar]` (noble gas core)
`Ag^(o+)(Z = 47), [Kr]4d^(10)` (pseudo noble gas core)
Pseudo noble gas core forms more covalent character in its compounds due to inffective shielding of d-orbitals. Hence, `KBr` is more ionic due to which it has higher melting point.
b. Apply Fajans' rule, `SnCl_(2)` is ionic and `SnCl_(4)` is covalent. Hence, `SnCl_(2)` is solid whereas `SnCl_(4)` is liquid.
