Assertion `NCI_(3)` reacts with water but `NF_(3)`I s inert towards hydrolysis
Reasoning Nitrogen des not possess vacant d-orbitals .

A

If both `(A)` and `(R )` are correct and `(R )` is the correct explanation of `(A)`

B

If both `(A)` and `(R )` are correct and `(R )` is the correct explanation of `(A)`

C

If `(A)` is correct but `(R )` is incorrect

D

If `(A)` is incorrect but `(R )` is correct

The correct Answer is:
B

`NCI_(3) + 3H_(2)OrarrNH_(3) + 3HOCI`
`EN` of `N gtEN` of `CI`, so -delta centre of `N` of `NCI_(3)` interacts with +delta centre of `H` of `H_(2)O` and hence gets hydrolysed to give `NH_(3)` and `HOCI`
`NF_(3) + H_(2) O rarr NO` reaction
Since `EN` of `F gtEN` of `N` thus `N` has +delta charge and `F` has -delta charge .
