Is boric acid a protic acid? Explain.

Protic acid is the one which ionises in water to give proton. Boric acid,`B(OH)_(3)`, in water does not behave as a protic acid as it does not ionise to give proton, i.e.
`B(OH)_(3)+2H_(2)OtoH_(2)BO_(2)^(ө)+H_(3)O^(o+)`
rather it behaves as a Lewis acid and a weak monobasic acid.
