Similarity between `Tl` and `Al`:
a. Both shows `+3` oxidation state, e.g.`AlCl_(3),TlCl_(3),Tl_(2)O`
b. Both form octahedral complexes, e.g.`[AlF_(6)]^(3-)` and `[AlF_(6)]`.
Similarity between thallium and group `1` metals:
i. Group `1` elements show a uniform oxidation state of `+1`,similarly,`Tl` due to inert pair effect shows a more stable `+1` oxidation state,e.g.`Tl_(2)O,TlCl` etc.
ii. Like group `1` oxides, `Tl_(2)O` is strongly basic.
