Does the hydrolysis of `XeF_(6)` lead in a redox reaction?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

On hydroysis
`overset((+6))(XeF_(6)) + 3H_(2)O rarr overset((+6))(XeO_(3)) + 6HF` (complete hydrolsis), As oxidation state of `Xe` is same in `XeF_(5) and xeO_(3)` i.e. no change in oxidation state of `Xe` hydrolysis of `XeF_(6)` is not a redox reaction
