Write hydrate isomers of the following and also give increasing order of the conductance of the isomers
`[Cr(H_(2)O)_(6)]Br_(3)`
(b) `[Cu(H_(2)O)_(4)]CI_(2)` .

Text Solution

Hydrate isomers of `[Co(H_(2)O)_(6)]Br_(3)` are
(i) `(A) [Cr(H_(2)O)_(6)]Br_(3)`
(ii) `(B) [Cr (H_(2)O)_(5)Br]Br_(2).H_(2)O`
(iii) `( C )[Cr(H_(2)O)_(4)Br_(2)]Br.2H_(2)O`
(iv) `(D)[Cr(H_(2)O)_(3)Br_(3)].3H_(2)O`
On ionisation the above hydrate isomers give

Greater the number of ions formed greater is the conductane Hence, increasing order of conductance is
`DltCltBltA`
(b) Hydrate isomers of `[Cu(H_(2)O)_(4)]CI_(2)` are
(i) `(A) [Cu(H_(2)O)_(3)CI].H_(2)O`
(ii) `(B) [Cu (H_(2)O)_(2)CI_(2)].2H_(2)O`
(iii) `(C) [Cu(H_(2)O)_(4)]CI_(2)`
On ionisation the above hydrate isomers give
(i) `(A)rarr[Cu(H_(2)O)_(3)CI]^(o+)+CI^(o+)(2ions)`
(ii) `(B) rarr No ions`
(iii) `(C)rarr [Cu(H_(2)O_(4)]^(2+)+2CI^(Θ)(3ions)`
Greater the number of ions formed greater is the conductance. Hence order of conductance is `BltAltC` .
