`Rh^(2+)` ion in octahedral field has configuration `t_(2g)overset(6)e_(g)overset(1)` when crystal field splitting `Delta_(0)` is greater than the pairing energey `P`

(b) For `Rh^(2-)` ion in octahedral field `(Delta_(0)gtP)`
`CFSE =-(0.4 xx 6)Delta_(0) + (0.6 xx 1) Delta_(0) + P`
`=- 2.4 Delta_(0) + 0.6 Delta_(0) + P = - 1.8 Delta_(0) +P`
Even in a spherical field the complex must have two pairs of elctrons one additional pair is formed in the octahederal field .
