`AIF_(3)` is insoluble in anhydrous `HF` but when little `KF` is added to the compound it becomes soluble On addition of `BF_(3),AIF_(3)` precipitated Write the balanced chemical equations .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Anhydrous `HF` is stabilised due to intermolecular `H` bonding and is less dissociated `AIF_(3)` is soluble `HF` in the presence of `KF` due to the formation of `[AIF_(6)]^(3-)`
`3KF +AIF_(3)rarr K_(3)[AIF_(6)]`
`BF_(3)` displaces out `F` from `[AIF_(6)]^(3-)` because it is more acidic than `AIF_(3)darr + 3KBF_(4)` .
