'Carbon-oxygen bond lengths in formic acid aer `1.23 Å` and `1.36 Å` and both carbon-oxygen bonds in sodium formate have the same value, i.e., `1.27 Å`.

Both the `(C-O)` bond lengths in sodium formate have same value due to resonance hybrid of two equivalent resonance structures.

But in formic acid, two resonance structures are not equivalent, so both the `(C-O)` bond lengths are different.
