Acetone forms a cyclic ketal called an acetonide with two cis `(OH)` groups `D-`Glucopyranose is in equilibrium with some `D-`glucofuranose (having two pairs of cis `OH` groups). The formation of diketal shifts the equilibrium towards the reacting `D-`glucofuranose.
