In U.C.M., when time interval `delta t to 0` , the angle between change in velocity `(delta v)` and linear velocity ( v) will be

A

`0^(@)`

B

`90^(@)`

C

`180^(@)`

D

`45^(@)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

The direction of change in velocity `(deltav)` is given by
`phi = (180^(@) theta)/( 2) = 90^(@) -(theta)/(2)" "…….(i)`
This can be shown garphically as

For small time interval, i.e, `delta t to 0`, then angle between `V_(1)` and `V_(2)` is very small i.e., `theta = 0^(@)`
So , from Eq.(i) , we get
`phi = 90^(@)` .

A particle is travelling on a curved path. In an interval Deltat its speed changed from v to 2v. However, the change in magnitude of its velocity was found to be |vec(DeltaV)| =sqrt(5)v . What can you say about the direction of velocity at the beginning and at the end of the interval (Delta t) ?

A certain constant force starts acting on a body moving at a constant velocity v. After a time interval Deltat , the velocity of the body is reduced by half, and after the same time interval, the velocity is again reduced by half. Determine the velocity v_(f) of the body after a time interval 3Delta t from the moment when the constant force starts acting.
