Parturition Definition

The process of Parturition (child birth) can be defined as the expulsion/ejection of fully formed foetus from the uterus of mother after the completion of gestation period. In case of human beings, the gestation period lasts for about 9 months or 280 days in total. It typically takes place in about a week from the due date of mother. This process is a neuro-endocrine mechanism, i.e. the contribution of both nervous and endocrine system is involved.
