A lift is coming from `8th` floor and is just about to reach `4th` floor. Taking ground floor as origin and positive direction upwards for all quantities, which one of the following is correct ?

A

`x lt 0, v lt 0, a gt 0`

B

`x gt 0, v lt 0, a lt 0`

C

`x gt 0, v lt 0, a gt 0`

D

`x gt 0, v gt 0, a lt 0`

The correct Answer is:
A

As the lift is coming in downward directions, displacement will be negative. We have to see whether the motion is accelerating or retarding.
We know that due to downward motion displacement will be negative. When the lift reaches `4th` floor is about to stop hence, motion is retarding in nature hence, `x lt 0 , a gt 0`. As displacement is in negative direction, velocity will alsobe negative i.e., `v lt 0`.
This can be shown in the adjacent figure.

There are nine floors building in which nine shops are situated on different floor separately. The ground floor is numbered 1 and so on. Nine persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G H, and I are working in different shops like Antique, Bakery, Salon, Bookstore, Boutique, Cafe, Chemist, Dairy and Jewellery but not necessarily in the same order. F does not work in Chemist or Dairy G does not work in Dairy Which of the following is correct ?

Directions: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions which follow: There are six people living on different floors in the same building having six floors numbered one to six (the ground floor is numbered 1, the floor above it, number 2 and so on and the topmost floor is numbered 6). Q lives just below the floor of R, whose age is 5 years. Only two people live between the floors on which Q and U live. The one whose age is 10 years lives below Q. The one whose age is 20 years lives on the topmost floor. S does not live on an odd-numbered floor. S lives on a floor between U and Q and his age is 15 years. U is 5 years elder than P. T does not live on the topmost floor. The one who lives just above T is 3 years elder than T. Q lives on an even-numbered floor but not on the 4th floor. On which of the following floors does R live?

P, Q, R, S, T and V live on different floors in the same building having its six floors numbered one to six (the ground floor is numbered 1, the floor above it is numbered 2, and so on, till the topmost floor is numbered 6). S does not live on an odd-numbered floor. P does not live on a floor which is immediately above or immediately below the floor on which T lives. P does not live on the lowermost floor, i.e., floor no. 1. On which of the following floors does T live ?
