Assertion: A body having non zero acceleration can have a constant velocity.
Reason: Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both assertion and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
C

As per definition, acceleration is the rate of change of velocity, i.e., `vec a = (d vec v)/(dt)`.
If velocity is constant `(d vec v)/(dt) = 0 :. vec a = 0`.
Therefore, if a body has constant velocity it cannot have non-zero acceleration.
