Mass `m` shown in the figure is in equilibrium. If it is displaced further by `x` and released find its accleleration just after it is released. Take pulleys to be light and smooth and string light.

A

`(4kx)/(5m)`

B

`(2kx)/(5m)`

C

`(4kx)/(m)`

D

none of these

The correct Answer is:
C

Initially the block is at rest under action of force `2T` upward and mg downwards. When the block is pulled downward by `x` , the spring extends by `2x` . Hence tension `T` increases by `2kx` . Thus the net unbalanced force on block of mass `m` is `4kx` .

Mass m shown in figure is in equilibrium. If it is displaced further by x and released find its acceleration just after it is released. Take pulleys to the light & smooth and strings light.

A block A of mass m is attached at one end of a light spring and the other end of the spring is connected to another block B of mass 2m through a light string as shown in the figure. A is held and B is in static equilibrium. Now A is released. The acceleration of A just after that instant is a . In the next case, B is held and A is in static equilibrium. Now when B is released, its acceleration immediately after the releas is b . The value of a//b is (pulley, string and the spring are massless).

Find m_(3) if the system is in equilibrium the incline is smooth and string and pulley are light

In the balance machine shown in the figures. Which arm will move downward after the system is released from rest (assuming stiring, arm of balance machie and the pulley to be light)

In the device shown in the figure, the block of mass 20 kg is displaced down slighty and released, it starts oscillating. Pulleys are smooth and massless, strings and springs are also massless. Find the time period of oscillation (K_(1) = 4 N//m, K_(2) = 4N//m)

Two blocks of masses m and 2m are connected by a light string passing over a frictionless pulley. As shown in the figure, the mass m is placed on a smooth inclined plane of inclination 30° and 2m hangs vertically. If the system is released, the blocks move with an acceleration equal to :

The intial configuration of the system is as shown in the figure. The string and the pulley are light. The bob is released and the string starts wrapping around the pulley. (The pulley is held in place by a force applied at the centre) Find the rate r at which the length of the string warpped around the pulley increaes (as a function of theta ).

For the arrangement shown in figure when the system is released, find the acceleration of wedge. Pulley and string are ideal and friction is absent.
