Assertion : For two bodies, the sum of the mutual forces exerted between them is zero from Newton's third law.
Reason : The sum of work done by the two forces must always cancel.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is a the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If assertion is true and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
C

For two bodies , the sum of the mutual forces exerted between them is zero from Newton's third law
i.e., `F_(12) + F_(21) = 0`
But the sum of the work done by the two forces need not always concel.
i.e., `W_(12) + W_(21) = 0`
However, it may sometimes be true.

If distance between the two bodies is doubled.then the gravitational force between them will become

Assertion : Work done by the centripetal force in moving a body along a circle is always zero. Reason : Because displacement of the body is along the force.

Assertion : When a bicycle is in motion, the force of friction exerted by the ground on the two wheels is always in forward direction. Reason : The frictional force acts only when the bodies are in contact

Assertion: Frictional force is the component of contact force parallel to the surface. Reason: Friction force always opposes the motion of a body.
