Assertion: The value of acceleration due...

Assertion: The value of acceleration due to gravity does not depends upon mass of the body on which force is applied.
Reason: Acceleration due to gravity is a constant quantity.

A

If both the assertion and reason are true and reason is a true explanation of the assertion.

B

If both the assertion and reason are true but the reason is not true the correct explanation of the assertion.

C

If the assertion is true but reason false.

D

If both the assertion and reason are false.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

Acceleration due to gravity is given by `g=(GM)/(R^(2))`. Thus it does not depends onmass of body on which it is acting. Also it is not a constant quantity it changes with change in value of both `M` and `R` (distance between two bodies).
