Two identical sound `S_1` and `S_2` reach at a point P is phase. The resultant loudness at point P is `n` dB higher than the loudness of `S_1` the value of n is :

A

`2`

B

`4`

C

`5`

D

`6`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Let `a` be the amplitude due to `S_1` and `S_2` individually.
Loudness due to `S_1=I_1=Ka^2`
Loudness due to `S_(1)+S_(2)=I=K(2a)^(2)=4I_(I)`
`:. n=10log_(10)((4l_1)/(l_1))`
`=10log_(10)(4)=6`

Two identical sounds s_(1) and s_(2) reach at a point P phase. The resultant loudness at a point P is not higher than the loudness of s_(1) . The value of n is

Sounds from two identical sources S_(1) and S_(2) reach a point P . When the sounds reach directly, and in the same phase, the intensity at P is I_(0) . The power of S_(1) is now reduced by 64% and the phase difference between S_(1) and S_(2) is varied continuously. The maximum and minimum intensities recorded at P are now I_("max") and I_("min")

Two sources of sound S_1 and S_2 vibrate at same frequency and are in phase. The intensity of sound detected at a point P as shown in the figure is I_0 . (a) If theta equals 45^@ , what will be the intensity of sound detected at this point if one of the sources is switched off ? (b) What will be the answer of the previous part if theta= 60^@ ?

The resultant loudness at a point P is n dB higher than the loudness of S_1 whoch is one of the two identical sound sources S_1 and S_2 reaching at that point in phase. Find the value of n.

Two sound waves each of wavelength lamda and having the same amplitude A form two sources S_(1) and S_(2) interfere at a point P. If the path difference S_(2)P - S_(1)P = (lamda)/(3) , then the amplitude of the resultant were at P will be

Consider two coherent, monochromatic (wavelength lambda ) sources S_(1) and S_(2) , separated by a distance d. The ratio of intensities of S_(1) and that of S_(2) (which is responsible for interference at point P, where detector is located) is 4. The distance of point P from S_(1) is (if the resultant intensity at point P is equal to (9)/(4) times of intensity of S_(1) ) ("Given : "angleS_(2)S_(1)P=90^(@), d gt0 and n" is a positive integer")

When beats are produced by two progressive waves of same amplitude and of nearly same frequencies then the maximum loudness of the resulting sound is n times the loudness of each of the component wave trains. The value of n is
