Assertion: In a stationary wave, there is no transfer of energy.
Reason: There is no outward motion of the distubance from one particle to adjoing particle in a stationary wave.

A

if both the assertion and reason are true and reson is a true explanation of the assertion.

B

if both the assertion and reason are true but the reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If the assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both the assertion and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
A

In stationary wave, total energy associated with it is twice the energy of each of incidence and reflected wave. Large amount of energy are stored equally in standing waves and became trapped with the waves. Hence, there is no transmission of energy through the waves.
