Assertion: The velocity of a body at the bottom of an inclind plane of given height is more when is slides down the plane, compared to, when it rolling down the same plane.
Reason: In rolling down a body acquires both, kinetic energy of translation and rotation.

A

If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.

B

If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.

C

If assertion is true but reason is false.

D

If both assertion and reason are false.

The correct Answer is:
B

In sliding down, the entire potential energy of body is converted only into translational energy. While in rolling motion, some part of potential energy is converted into kinetic energy of rotation and rest into kinetic energy of translation. Therefore, in sliding motion, the velocity acquired by the body is more.
