A train starting from rest moves with a ...

A train starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of `0.2 m//s^(2)` for 5 minutes . Calculate the speed acquired and the distance travelled in this time.

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`60m//s` ; `9 km`

Here, ` u = 0 , a = 0.2 m//s^(2) , t = 5 min = 5 xx 60 s = 300 s , v = ? , s = ?`
From ` v = u + at , v = 0 + 0.2 xx 300 = 60 m//s`
From ` v^(2) - u^(2) = 2 as , s = ( v^(2) - u^(2))/( 2a) = ( 60^(2) - 0^(2))/( 2 xx 0.2) = 9000 m = 9 km`
