A sound wave travels at a speed of `339 m//s`. If its wavelength is `1.5 cm`, what is the frequency of the wave ? Will it be audible ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, speed of sound wave, `v = 339 m//s`
wavelength of sound wave, `lamda = 1.5 cm = 1.5 xx 10^-2 m`
Frequency of the sound wave, `v = (v)/(lamda) = (339)/(1.5 xx 10^-2) = 22600 Hz`
The sound is not audible as its frequency lies beyond the audible range (20 Hz to 20,000 Hz).
