If an observer places his ear at the end...

If an observer places his ear at the end of a long pipe, he can hear two distinct echoes when the pipe is hammered at the other end. Explain.

When the metallic pipe is hammered, the sound so produced travels through (i) the solid layer of the pipe and (ii) at the same time through the air within the pipe. Since sound travels much faster through solids (16 times) faster in air than in case of steel), the sound through the solid reaches much earlier than the sound through air.

Explain: if an obeserver places hisear to one end of a long iron pipe line, he can distinctly hear two sounds when a work man hammers the other end of the pipeline.

A person places his ear at the end of a long steel pipe. He hears two distinct sounds at an interval of 0.5 s when another person hammers at the other end of the pipe. If the speeds of sounds in metal and air are 3630 m//s and 330 m//s respectively, find the distance between the two persons.

If a person places his ear to one end of a long iron pipeline, he can distinctly hear two sounds when a workman hammers the other end of the pipeline. How ?

If you clap on one end of a long steel pipe you will hear two distinct sounds on the other end of the pipe. Explain.

Why is the sound produced at one end of a metallic pipe heard twice at the other end ?

A person blows into open- end of a long pipe. As a result,a high pressure pulse of air travel downthe pipe. When this pulse reaches the other end of the pipe,

Pipe A is 0.50 m long and open at both ends. Pipe B is open at one end and closed at the other end. Determine the length of pipe B so that it has the same fundamental frequency as A.

A sources of sound is at one end of hallow tube. An observer at other end hears two distinct notes aftea time interval of 1s.If velocity of sound in air is 340 m/s and in metal is 3740 m/s , then lengths of pipe is

Assertion: An open organ pipe of certain length has the same fundamental frequency as closed organ pipe of half the length. Reason : In case of an open organ organ pipe, at both the ends antinodes are formed while in case of closed organ pipe, at one end antinode and at the other end node is formed.

A tightly fitted piston can slide along the inner wall of a long cylindrical pipe. With the piston at the lower end of the pipe, the lower end of the pipe is dipped into a large tank, filled with water. Now the piston is pulled up with the help of the rod attached to it. water rises in the pipe along with the piston. Why? To what maximum height water can be raised in the pipe using this method? What will be the answer to your question if water is replaced with mercuty? Atmosphere pressure is P_("atm")=1.01xx10^(5)Pa .
