A wave of wavelength `0.60 cm` is produced in air and it travels at a speed of `300 m//s`. Will it be audible ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
`5 xx 10^4 Hz`, No

Here, `lamda = 0.60 cm , v = 300 m//s`
Thus , `v(300 m//s)/(0.60 cm) = (300 xx 10^2 cm//s)/(0.60 cm) = 5 xx 10^4 Hz`
This frequency lies in the ultrasound zone and hence is inaudible.
