Speed of sound in arctic air at `- 50^@ C = (331 - 0.6 xx 50) m//s = 301 m//s`
Time taken by sound to cover `1 km` in arctic air `= (1000 m)/(301 m//s) = 3.332 s`
Speed of sound in dersert air at `+ 50^@ C = (331 + 0.6 xx 50) m//s = 361 m//s`
Time taken by sound to cover `1 km` desert air `= (1000 m)/(361 m//s) = 2.770`
Difference in two times `= 3.332 s - 2.770 s = 0.562 s`.
