A tuning fork vibrates at a frequency of...

A tuning fork vibrates at a frequency of `256 Hz`.
(a) When the air temperature increases, the wavelength of the sound from the tuning fork : (i) increase, (ii) remains the same, (iii) decrease. Why ?
(b) If the temperature rises from `0^@` to `20^@ C`, what is the change in wavelength ?

(a) increase, because the speed of sound increase with temperature. As `v = v lamda` so if `v` increases and `v` remains the same, `lamda` increases.
(b) Since speed of sound increase by `0.6 m//s` for every degree centigrade rise in temperature, increase in sound speed when temperature changes by `20^@ C = 0.6 m//s xx 20 = 12 m//s`.
Increase in wavelength `= (12 m//s)/(256 Hz) = 0.047 m`.
