What is the real depth of a swimming pool when its bottom appears to be raised by 1 m ? Given refractive index of water is `4//3`.

A

`2m`

B

`16m`

C

`4m`

D

`8m`

The correct Answer is:
C

Here, `x = ?, (x-y) = 1 m, n = 4//3`.
From `n = x/y , n-1 = (x)/(y) - 1 = (x-y)/(y)`
`(4)/(3) - 1 = 1/y :. y = 3 m`
From `(x-y) = 1`
`x = 1 + y = 1 + 3 = 4 m`.
