What is the ratio of equivalent resistan...

What is the ratio of equivalent resistance of series combination of `n` equal resistance to the equivalent resistance in parallel combination of these `n` resistances ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Equivalent resistance of series combination of `n` equal resistances (each resistance equal to `r`), i.e.,
`R_s = nr`
Equivalent resistance of parallel combination of `n` equal resistance (each resistance equal to `r`), i.e.,
`R_p = (r )/(n)`
Thus, `(R_s)/(R_p) = (n r)/(r//n) = n^2`.
