Out of the two, a toaster of `1 kW` and an electric heater of `2 kW`, which has a greater resistance ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here , `P_1 = 1 kW, P_2 = 2 kW`
Resistance of the toaster, `R_1 = (V^2)/(P_1)`
Resistance of the electric heater, `R_2 = (V^2)/(P_2)`
Thus, `(R_1)/(R_2) = (V^2//P_1)/(V^2//P_2) = (P_2)/(P_1) = (2 kW)/(1 kW) = 2` or `R_1 = 2 R_2, i.e., R_1 gt R_2`.
