What is an electric circuit ? Distinguish between an open and a closed circuit.

A number of electrical conductors connected together to from a conducting path is called an electrical circuit. If they form a continuous closed path through which current can circulate, the circuit is said to be a closed circuit. When the circuit is not closed, no current flows through it and it is then said to be an open circuit.
