What is the distance travelled by a point during the time `oita` if it moves in `X-Y1 plance, according to the relation
`x= a sin omega t and `y=a (1 -cos omega t)?`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Velocity of the point along x-axis,
`v_(x) =(dx)/(dt) =a omega cos omega t`
Velocity of the pointy along y-axis`,
`As, `vec v =u_(x) hat I +v_(y) hat j and v =sqrt v_(x) ^(2) +v_(y) ^(2)`
so, `v=sqrt( a^(2) omega ^(2) cos ^(2) omega t + a^(2) sin ^(2) omega t)
`=a omega`
:. Deistance travelled in time `tau= vtau =a omega tau` .
