An object can accelerate while travelling at constant speed, but not at constant velocity, Is it true ? Explain.

Text Solution

Yes , the direction fo an onject can change at constant speed . If is so when an object is moving on a circular path with constant speed. Now it hat centrpetal acceleration. The cpmstamt velpcoty shows zero acceleration.

  • A particleis is travelling with a constant speed means

    A
Its position remains constant as time passes
    B
It covers equal distances in equal time intervals
    C
    Its acceleration is zero
    D
It does not change its direction of motion.
  • A particle is travelling with a constant speed. This means

    A
its position remains constant as time passes
    B
It covers equal distances in equal time intervals
    C
    its acceleration is zero
    D
It does not charge its direction of motion

If a particle is moving with a constant velocity, what is its acceleration?

An object moving in a circular path at constant speed has constant

Assertion: An object can have constant speed but variable velocity. Reason: Speed is a scalar but velocity is a vector quantity.
