A police van moving on a highway with a speed of `30 km h^(-1)` Fires a bullet at a thief's car speeding away in a same direction with a speed of `192 km h^(-1)`. If the muzzle speed of the buller is `150 m s^(-1)`, with what speed does the bullet hit thief's car? .
.

Verified by Experts

Muzzle speed of bullet, ` v_B = 150 ms^(-10 = 540 h^(-1)`
Speed of police van, `v_p = 30 km//h, Speed of hief thief car, ` v_T = 19 2 km //h`
Since the bullet is sharing the velocity of the polece van, its effective velocity is
` V_(BT) = V_B - v_T = 570 - 192 = 378 km// h = ( 378 xx 10000/ ( 60 xx 60 ) = 105 m//s^(-1)`.
