A car travelling ast 60 km/h overtakes another car travellign at 42 km/h. Assuming each car to be 5.0 m long, find the time taken during the overtake aned the total road distance used for the overtake.

Total distance to be travelled for overtaking the car ` = 5.0 + 5.0 = 10.0 m`. Relatve velocity of first car ` w.r.t. second car `= 60 - 42 = 18 km // h
`= 8 xx 1000 // ( 60 xx 60) = 5 ms^(-1)`.
Time taken ` = 10//5 = 2 s`. Road distance used for overtaing = distane travelled by fast car in ` 2s`
` + length of fast car
` = [ 60 xx 10000/ ( 60 xx 60) ] xx 5 = 3833 m`.
