A ball of mass 0.2 kg travelling in a straight line with a speed of `m//s` along negative x- axis id deflected by a bat `15 m//s` along negative x - axis is deflected by a bat at an angle of `30^(@)` If the speed of the ball after deflection is `10 m//s`, find the impulse on the ball.

Here , ` m=0.2 kg `
` upsilon_(ix)=-15 m//s , upsilon_(iy)=0, upsilon f = 10 m//s , 0 = 30^(@) `
` upsilon_(fx) = upsilon_(f) cos 30^(@) = 10 sqrt3//2 = 5 sqrt3 m//s `
` upsilon_(fy)= upsilon_(f) sin 30^(@) = 10 xx (1)/2 =5 m//s `
Impulse, `I_(x) = m (upsilon_(fx)-upsilon_(ix))=0.2 (5sqrt3+15) `
` =4.73 Ns `
` I_(y) = m (upsilon_(fy)-upsilon_(iy)=0.2 (5-0)= 1.0 Ns`
`:.` Net impulse on the ball, `I = sqrt(I_(x)^(2)+I_(y)^(2)) `
`sqrt((4.73)^(2)+1^(2)) = 4.83 Ns`.
