A machine gun has a mass of 10 kg . It fires 30 gram bullets at the rate of 6 bullets per secound with a speed of `400 m//s` . What force must be to the gun to keep it in position ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here , ` m^(2) = 10 kg , `
`m_(1) =30 g = 30 xx 10^(-3) kg `
Number of bullets fired/sec, `n = 6 , F = ?`
`upsilon_(1) = 400 m//s`
As force = rate of change of linear momentum
`:. F = ("change in linear momentum")/("time")=(nm_(1) upsilon_(1))/(1) `
` = (6xx 30 xx 10^(-3)xx 400)/(1)=72 N ` .
