A train is moving along a horizontal track . A pendulum suspended from the roof makes an angle of `4^(@)` with the vertical . If `g = 10 m//s^(2)` , what is the acceleration of the train ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

` T cos 4^(@) = mg and T sin 4^(@) = ma `
Dividing . We get ` (Tsin 4 ^(@))/(T cos 4^(@))=(ma)/(mg)=(a)/(g) `
` a = g tan 4^(@) = 10 xx 0.07 = 0.7 m//s^(2) `

If the angle of incline is tan^-1(a/g) , the string again makes the same angle with the normal to the ceiling.
