An aeroplane travelling at a speed of `500km h^(-1)` tilts at an angle of `30^(@)` as it makes a safe turn What is the radius of the curve ?

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
`3.41 xx 10^(3)m` .

Here, `upsilon = 500km h^(-1)`
`= (500 xx1000)/(60 xx 60) m//s = (5000)/(36) m//s`
`theta=30^(@), r = ?`
From `tan theta =(upsilon^(2)/(rg)) , r =(upsilon^(2)/(g tan theta))`
`r = (5000)/(36) xx (5000)/(36 xx 9.8 tan 30^(@))`
`r = (25 xx 10^(6) sqrt3)/(36 xx 36 xx 9.8) = 3.41 xx 10^(3) m` .
