The figure shows the position-time (x-t) graph of one-dimensional motion of a body of mass 0.4kg. The magnitude of each impulse is

A

`0.8Ns`

B

`1.6Ns`

C

`0.2Ns`

D

`0.4Ns`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
a

Here, `m = 0.4kg , `
when ` s = 2m, t = 2 s and u = 0`
From `s = ut + (1)/(2)at^(2)`
`2 = 0 + (1)/(2) a xx 2^(2)` or `a = 1 m//s^(2)`
From `upsilon = u + at = 0 + 1 xx 2 =2m//s`
Impulse = change in momentum ` = m upsilon`
`= 0.4 xx 2`
`= 0.8 N-s` .
